The intelligence of the mind is truly a powerful phenomenon. If used the right way, it can help you to heal yourself.  There were times when I felt I was losing my way: I was out of touch with my purpose and became off balanced.

Learning about chakra healing and using meditative prayer, crystals and balanced diet/lifestyle helped me to take excellent care of myself and in turn, be more powerful, grounded and productive. I hope this information can assist you to create a healthier, more prosperous live for you. Okay family, now let’s get in formation.

There are seven chakras that function like energy wheels. These energy centers turn clockwise through the body, governing the entire body in parts. The chakras go up the spinal column in different points. The first five chakras are based on the earth. The sixth and seventh deal with spirit, the stars and the esoteric. The lotus flower is associated with the chakras. Each chakra has its own function, unique shape of lotus flower, color and body part. When one chakra is imbalanced, it affects all the other energy centers.

The rainbow colors of each chakra connect to the energy frequency, or emotional state and vibration of our aura. An aura is an electromagnetic field that floats around the body. The color chart and ideology is based on contemporary Asian schools of thought and yogic traditions.

If a chakra gets blocked or disrupted, the life energy becomes dis-eased, resulting in mental and health ailments. This can cause problems in our physical, emotional and mental health. Learning about the causes of blockages helps us to clear them and help the chakras spin faster, purifying and strengthening our aura.

The Root Chakra

The first chakra, the root chakra, also known as the Muladhara chakra, starts from the back and goes downward like a root through the legs and feet of the spine at the coccyx. It defines our relation to Asasse Yaa, mother earth, and governs grounding, security, stability, the body, aspects of self, vitality, passion, primal and ancestral survival instincts. This chakra is the densest color, red. It is the foundation of the whole chakra system.

The root chakra is associated with basic necessities like food, clothes and shelter, financial independence, money, etc. All of these things help you build a strong foundation and feel grounded. The heart chakra is also known as the Anahata Chakra, which means ‘unhurt, unstuck or unbeaten’. The meaning of this infers to the ideathat underneath personal stories of pain and suffering lays unlimited love and compassion.

This chakra is associated with green colors, which represents transformation and love energy. It deals with human beings’ relationships; it is the center of love responsible for building varying types of relationships, including marriage and love. This chakra connects to the lymph glands, lungs and lung tissues. It is associated with the element of air and is located in the chest area.

The heart chakra is very vulnerable because throughout our lives, positive or negative experiences regarding love and relationships can cause us to cope in unhealthy ways. To deal with situations, our defense mechanisms to feeling hurt might be closing our chakra to numb pain and avoid suffering or overextending our heart chakra to a demanding partner/ parent tothe point of becoming drained. Envy, unfaithfulness and distrust weaken the heart chakra and can ruin relationships. Body parts associated with the heart chakra include the lungs, heart and ribs. Balancing, opening and clearing are what heals the heart chakra.

To heal and balance your heart chakra, it is important to be open with your emotions and not repress them. Write them, scream them out, or however you see fit: just let them out being extremely honest and open. Let it come from the heart. Maybe it won’t be so pretty, but it is a part of the healing process. Don’t cling to your feelings, do not dwell on past loves or problems and don’t stress about the future. Practice acceptance of things you cannot control. Remember that love is the greatest healer. Love yourself. Engage in yoga poses that open your heart. Eat more dark green leafy vegetables and drink green tea.

Repeat mantras like ‘YAM’, which sends the vibrations that lighten the emotional heart center, sparking unconditional love and compassion.

The Throat Chakra:

The throat chakra, also known as the Vishuddhi Chakra, meaning pure, hones your true voice. Its color is blue. It governs the ability to listen attentively and communicate with people. Glands attached to this chakra are the teeth, jaws, neck vertebrae, other mouth glands and ears. This chakra deals with self-expression, expression of truth, creative expression, perfect form and patterns. It also connects with the etheric body and optimal bodily functions. It is considered the seat or home of human emotion.

For example, when one is emotionally upset they may say they are ‘all choked up’ or they have a ‘lump in their throat’. It is the emotional hub; emotions can bestored in the base of the throat. Throat chakra meditation healing- imagine there is a striking blue light at the base of your throat or any other associated areas where you are having problems. Inhale and visualize blue, then exhale and release the stress and tension. Crystal healing with lapis lazuli crystal is something I do often to balance this chakra.

It isimperative to bring to light the things that you have been holding on to and go through the ugly feelings, experiences and thoughts that will complete the process of healing so you can share the highest version of yourself with people. Give joy.

We can also use the color blue to evoke an opening of the throat chakra. It is a calming color that is used for cleansing, health, restoring balance and easing physical and mental stress. An effective throat chakra will help you have more confidence and communicate effectively. You will be more at ease with the world.

Third Eye Chakra:

The third eye chakra, also known as the Ajna brow, is indigo colored. It governs intuition, extrasensory perception and inner wisdom. Yogic philosophy states the third eye chakra is connected to the idea that reality iscreated soley by the mind. When the third eye chakra works in harmony with the rest of the chakras, it is said that a door to spiritual enlightenment opens. It is located in the middle of the forehead just between our eyes, where the pineal gland is.

When the third eye chakra is balanced and clean, our perception of life is clear and we possess strong intuition, self-awareness and emotional balance. An imbalanced third eye chakra may look like closed mindedness, cynicism, depression, anxiety, paranoia, other mood disorders and mental illnesses.

Other symptoms may include rare feelings of creativity or inspiration, ignoring of intuition, overly logical or overly emotional behaviors, becoming absorbed by details but struggling to see the bigger picture, being often lost in your thoughts, often escaping into daydreams to avoid reality, egotistic attachment to having special ‘powers’ like visions or clairvoyance’, addiction to external things that we think may make us happy (food, sex, relationships, money, shopping, status..), trouble connecting to our deeper self/soul, easily mistrusting or disliking others, rigid opinions about the world that we aren’t willing to change, a dense and heavy ego, strongattachment to outcomes and lack of focus + decisiveness.

When balancing and clearing the third eye chakra, it is important to reflect on your childhood. Was your household one that encouraged free thinking or were you pushed to obey mindlessly? Was your environment emotionally stable, and did your caretakers value your insights and perspectives? It is possible that if you have problems with your third eye, you may have this as a result of your childhood conditioning.

Consuming a lot of water, eating natural fruits and vegetables like prunes, dates, blackberries, blueberries, figs, raisins, eggplant, purple cabbage, purple kale, purple carrots and purple potatoes, avoiding fluoride and limiting the amount of toxins you consume help decalcify the pineal gland and open your third eye. It is also helpful to explore varying viewpoints And perspectives, including reading books, watching different programs orengaging in different activities.

The pineal gland, which is a tiny pea-shaped mass in the brain, regulates our sleep cycles and reproductive hormones. Many cultures believe it is responsible for spiritual consciousness.

It is good to bask in sunlight and ground yourself with mindfulness. Drinking herbal teas like jasmine, lavender, passion flower and rosemary help clear this chakra. Also, you can heal through exploring limiting beliefs, humming or chanting ‘OM,’ which matches the vibration of the chakra, stargazing, moon gazing and self-reflection on thoughts, actions + feelings in a private journal.

Wearing indigo helps to activate this chakra. For aroma therapy healing, you can use essential oils like patchouli, frankincense, sandalwood and juniper. Try to observe your thoughts without assigning every one of them meaning. For third eye chakra meditation healing, imagine a swirling ball of luminescent indigo light in your third chakra area. Feel the ball of energy dissolving all blockages, sluggishness and aggressive flows of energy within you.

You can do third eye chakra crystal healing with lapis lazuli or amethyst. Repeating supportive affirmations like ‘I create my own reality,’ ‘I trust my intuition,’ ‘I connect with the wisdom of the universe’ and ‘my heart and mind are in perfect balance’ will be beneficial to developing the third eye chakra.

Crown Chakra:

The Crown Chakra, also known as the Sahasrara Chakra, which means 1000 petals of the lotus flower, is found at the crown of the head. This chakra governs the spiritual connection we have with each other and higher powers. We use this chakra to connect with higher sources to gain understanding, knowledge and wisdom. Parts of the body connected to this chakra are the brain glands, pituary glands and the nervous system. The crown chakra can be violet or white.

People with balanced crown chakras are open minded, spiritual, aware and seen as diplomatic and wise.

An underactive crown chakra can manifest as feeling scattered, without direction, clinging to beliefs from anyone who claims to be a wise person, shaman or spiritual healer, lack of empathy towards spiritual beings, closed mindedness to new concepts, materialism, greed, rigidity in what they believe, boredom in life and the inability to find meaningful beliefs. An overactive crown chakra may manifest as believing we are more wise and important than we are, demanding knowledge that we are not intellectually equipped to understand, performing extreme actions to show how wise or gifted we are or becoming addicted to rituals without deep knowledge of their significance and confusion.

To heal the crown chakra it is important to care for overall health through exercise, eat correctly, stimulate the mind, be in nature, look inward and practice solitude.

Other things that help me heal my mind, body and spirit are expressing gratitude, positive affirmations and giving, as these acts open me up to the positive abundance of the universe. I also utilize positive mantras, repeating them and filling my mind with positive thoughts.

Meditating to drumming and rhythm, which helps bring balance, is useful, as well as meditating in a quiet place or under the moon, allowing the light to permeate your being. When you do this, shut down the noise of the mind, envision a white light entering your crown and going down through the entire body and focusing on your breathing. For aroma therapy, you can use essential oils such as Frankincense, sandalwood, lavendar or rose. Consuming foods that are purple, violet, golden or white like cauliflower, onions, chives, blackberries, purple grapes, cabbage, garlic, artichokes and so on also help. Chamomile, lavendar and sage tea can be used to calm the nerves. Affirmations such as ‘I honor spirit,’ ‘I understand,’ ‘I am complete’ and ‘all life is connected’ are powerful and help you balance this chakra.

For spiritual baths, I sometimes collect healing rainwater and bathe in it, or use coffee, salt, basil or lime in the water.

I am currently working on a gratitude jar, where I get a jar, regularly write down things I am thankful for and put it in the jar. At the end of every month or two months, I will empty the jar and reflect on all of the blessings of the universe.

Thank you so much for reading. I hope this information could be of use to you.

What other forms of health are you grateful for? How do you engage your chakras?
