At last we are reunited! It’s been a while since my last exploration with Asiedua’s Imprint. Meet Hybrid, a 2 part series that blends musical and written storytelling to bridge divine, past, present and future selves for the next level of success, and highest intentions of being.

The concept of Hybrid was birthed from the multi-cultural identity that is the African Diaspora. Through remembering an African identity made of not only one but many African tribes, made fluid through the TransAtlantic Slave Trade, the Hybrid survives and thrives through collaboration, self esteem, self reclamation, strategy and the imagination.

The Battle of Densu

The female warriors grasped their weapons tightly, ready to die fighting for the territory of their foremothers.

They made a circle shape, with each warrior facing outward for 360 coverage, and planted their feet into the ground, forming a tight group. The forest had become dark, but the women kept their bewitched spears, flails and handguns erect. They bent their knees, poising themselves to charge toward their opponents with momentum.

A rustle in the forest caught the battalion’s attention. A rabbit hopped into view, only to be swooped up and carried away by a hawk.

All of the warriors but one, Afia, continued looking towards the forest. Afia, who followed the hawk’s movement into the sky, noticed that the shape of the bird began to form an unrecognizable mass. Her skin began to grow cold.

“They are coming from the sky,” whispered Afia. “They are coming from the sky!” she shouted. The group looked up in unison.”…
